2015 Job Action

Following certification as a union under the BC Labour Relations Board in April, 2014, the UNBC FA initiated its first job action in March, 2015. After two weeks on the picket lines, the UNBC Administration invoked section 55 of the BC Labour Relations Code, which suspends job action while the BC Labour Relations Board assesses whether and how to intervene in the labour dispute. Ultimately, the LRB directed the FA and the Administration to go to binding arbitration. At the time of this writing, we await arbitration hearings and a final decision, currently scheduled for late October 2015.
