Dr. Robert Mothersole is a Term Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, specialising in organic chemistry and biochemistry. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of British Columbia (2020) and an MChem in Chemistry from the University of York (2016), and was formerly a Research Associate and Assistant Teaching Professor at Thompson Rivers University. Robert’s main area of research is the characterisation of enzymes and proteins, investigating novel uses for them outside of their original biological purpose. His most recent research investigates the potential for enzymes to break down and eliminate persistent environmental pollutants known as “forever chemicals” (PFAS).
