Dr. Adam Hawkins holds a PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from UNBC and a BSc in Environmental and Engineering Geology from Western Washington University (Bellingham, Washington). Dr. Hawkins joined the department of Geography, Earth, and Environmental Science in April 2024 as a term Assistant Professor. A glacial geologist by training, Dr. Hawkins’ research has focused on glacier and climate change in western Canada since the end of the last ice age. He is also interested in improving preparedness and mitigating the impacts from natural hazard events through interdisciplinary collaboration between earth scientists, government, and communities. Dr. Hawkins currently serves on the BSc Geography Curriculum Committee and recently joined the UNBC Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. When possible, Dr. Hawkins escapes to the mountains and can be found hiking, skiing, climbing, or paddling on our local rivers. Adam is also an active volunteer with Prince George Search and Rescue and instructs SAR across the province.
